Biography
My name is Alana Smith, representing the Santa Clarita Valley and I am running for Miss California USA 2011. It is such a great honor for me to represent our city in this great state. I want to represent the state of California with dignity and grace.
I grew up in Santa Clarita, California which is where I still reside. I'm currently a sophomore in college, actively enrolled in classes on the path towards achieving my Nursing degree and a Minor in Film and Television.
I've been working at a well-known restaurant for the past two years as a hostess. It has been brought to my attention of the tremendous of waste of food daily, when it can go to others in need. This inspired me to make this as my platform issue in the Miss California USA pageant. I want to increase the awareness of hunger in our local communities and motivate others to reduce this growing problem that occurs to someone as close as our own next door neighbor.
I am excited about being in this pageant, for it has taught me so much in a short amount of time. It has empowered me through networking and interacting with businesses and individuals on a greater scale. As a participant in this pageant, it has given me increased opportunities for my future. I am striving to be a role model and an example to others, that even when facing adversity or hardships, success is attainable in any situation when you are confident in your abilities. As well as having an attitude of being willing to learn and to work hard in accomplishing your goals.
With time drawing near for this competition, I am still working to raise fees that are needed. The fees for competing in the pageant are costly! If you could assist in any way, to help me raise my fees, I would truly be very thankful. Any amount helps no matter how small or large it is!
